Flexible Residencies for Artists and Organisations
With four flexible residency models, Fez Art Residency works with individuals, collectives, and organisations to create unique residency experiences that reflect their goals, values, and way of working.
FAR Funded Residencies

Offered through initiatives like 8WEEKSinFEZ, these place-based residencies provide selected artists with fully-funded accommodation and space to explore, reflect, and create. They are designed to open up access, invite diversity, and spark cultural dialogue.

Self-Funded Residencies
flexible, tailored, built around you
Flexible, tailored retreats and residencies for artists who are self-funded or supported by grants. Optional add-ons include studio access, artisan workshops, mentorship, and cultural excursions. Pricing varies by accommodation and experience level.
Funded Residencies

In partnership with cultural institutions, arts organisations, and funding bodies, FAR supports externally funded residencies. These may cover accommodation, project costs, or curated experiences tied to a partner’s mission.

8WEEKSinFEZ is a residency and storytelling campaign hosted by Fez Art Residency that celebrates Fez as one of the world’s most creative cities - a place where tradition and imagination meet.

The programme offers selected artists the time, space, and inspiration to reflect, explore, and create.

8 Weeks of fully-funded private accommodation right in the heart of Fez Medina


Over eight weeks in autumn 2025, we’ll be hosting a rotating group of Moroccan and international visual artists in two private apartments right in the heart of Fez Medina.

Whether two artists stay for eight weeks, sixteen artists for one week each, or something in between, the programme is flexible, and the structure is simple but powerful - a place to stay, no expectations, and a city that invites exploration and creativity.
HOW TO APPLY
You’ll be asked to submit:
  • A link to your work (website or Instagram)
  • A short artist bio
  • A few lines about how you’d use your time in Fez

WHO CAN APPLY

We welcome applications from:

  • Visual artists of all levels and disciplines
  • Artists aged 18+
  • Those who are curious, self-directed, and open to cultural exchange

Fez Art Residency is a collective of artists, creatives, and cultural hosts based in the heart of UNESCO-listed Fez Medina. We offer residencies and retreats shaped by collaboration, open to artists of all backgrounds, and firmly rooted in the city’s rich heritage and contemporary energy.

Our partner Creative Explorers Fez hosts regular retreats at Dar Drouj - a beautifully restored, intimate and historic dar on the edge of the Medina where artists gather to reflect, create, and connect. These retreats are open to all and ideal for artists looking to create in a supportive and collaborative setting.

A Singing Retreat
Join renowned vocal coach Daphne Bečka for a transformative week of musical exploration, blending vocal training, cultural immersion, and soul-deep connection through sound. Perfect for beginner to intermediate singers.

A Creative Retreat

Why Fez?
Fez is the world’s oldest and largest medina, home to the oldest functioning university on earth and the largest car-free urban zone.
